Mi Blog ha estado olvidado, pero ha empezado un nuevo año (hace rato, ya lo sé) y espero actualizarlo, al menos una vez a la semana. Han pasado muchas cosas que me han mantenido desconectada, entre ellas: construir una casa, ahora estoy viviendo en el campo, lejos de la ciudad, hay mucho verde a mi alrededor y estoy acompañada por mis perros, gatos y mi novio. En resumen ha sido un cambio maravilloso, pero hemos trabajado mucho en la casa y no he tenido mucho tiempo de concentrarme en mis proyectos personales.
Esta ilustración es del año pasado de Noviembre, pero no la había publicado. Fue hecha para una convocatoria de la página 27pm.net, que es un proyecto colectivo de ilustradores, para su exposición “Mundos desconocidos”. Las fotografías son de Natalia Uribe, gracias Naty.
My Blog has being kind of forgotten, but a new year has begun (long time ago, I know) and I hope to update it at least once a week. Lots of things have happen that have kept me away, like: building a house, I now live in the country, far from the city, there is a lot of green around me and I am accompanied by my dogs, cats and my boyfriend. Briefly its been a wonderful change, but we have been working a lot on the house, and I haven´t had much time to concentrate on my personal projects.
This is an illustration I did last year on November, but I hadn´t publish it. It was made for a web page called 27pm.net, that is a project of a collective of illustrators, for it exhibit “Mundos desconocidos” (Unknown Worlds). The photograph is from Natalia Uribe, thanks Naty.

Its been so looong, but lost of things have been happening, good things. But now things are back to normal, almost normal. This is my latest illustration for They Draw & Cook, for the cooking 4 kids contest. Hope you enjoy it and you should really try this one, its delicious.
Ha pasado mucho tiempo, pero muchas cosas han estado pasando, cosas buenas. Pero ahora las cosas están un poquito mas normales. Esta es mi última ilustración para They Draw & Cook para el concurso de cocinando para niños. Ojalá les guste y deberían intentar esta, es deliciosa.

It´s been a while, to much to do. But here is an illustration I did for a magazine, although it did get picked I really like it. It was based on an Indian fable of an elephant and some mice that help him escape from his captors.
Ha pasado un tiempo, muchas cosas por hacer. Pero acá va una ilustración que hice para una revista, aunque finalmente no fue escogida, me gusta mucho. Está basada en una fábula de un elefante y unos ratones que le ayudan a escapar de sus captores.

I´m very happy. This design was selected as a runner up in the Tigerprint competition: Contemporary Flowers. We had to work with a specific color palette and flowers for card design for women, and as the title of the competition says it needed to have a contemporary feel. Here are my other two submissions.
Estoy muy feliz. El diseño de arriba fue escogido como finalista en el concurso de Tigerprint: Flores Contemporaneas. Teníamos que trabajar con una paleta de color específica y flores para una tarjeta para mujeres y como el nombre de la competencia lo dice debián tener un look contemporaneo. Aca están mis otros dos diseños.

This is an illustration commissioned for the magazine Bacánika, a Colombian publication for young people. My illustration was featured in the 42th edition, in the test section, that was about how much people know about colombian newspapers.
Here´s a little bit a of my process.
 
First I sketch on paper (here´s only the final sketch), I scan it and then use it as a reference in Painter to create the line work, which has the feel of a very clean linocut, but still has little imperfections. I create textures from found objects, others I create by drawing with ink or acrylics or anything I have around in different textured papers, then I play around with them in Photoshop and convert them to black and white images. Then, in Illustrator, I color it and play with the different textures I created.

Esta es una ilustración para la revista Bacánika, una publicación Colombiana para jovenes. Mi ilustración salió en la edición 42, en la sección de test, que era de cuanto saben las personas de los periodicos colombianos.
Un poquito de mi proceso: Primero boceteo en papel (aca sólo tengo el boceto final), lo escaneo y lo uso como referecia en Painter para crear las lineas, que tienen un estilo parecido a un grabado en linoleo muy limpio, pero con algunas imperefeciones. Creo texturas de objetos encontrados, otras las creo dibujando con tinta o acrilicos o lo que haya por ahí, en papeles con diferentes texturas. Despues, en Illustrator lo coloreo y juego con las texturas que creé.

This is an illustration I did for my portfolio, and it fits perfectly to this week´s topic. Also the last few days have been so hot, I woudn´t mind going to the beach.
Esta ilustración la hice para miportafolio y encaja perfectamente con el tema de esta semana. Además los ultimos dias han sido tan calurosos, que no me chocaría ir a la playa.
